Palimpsest

Over time, as we react to what read and revise our thoughts and opinions, we may envision the structure of our knowledge as a palimpsestic document - layered, erased, and rewritten. The video work Palimpsest records the transformation of thought over time using the sounds of writing, striking, and erasing and stop motion images of the resulting marks. The use of a chalkboard provokes reflection on the sources of our knowledge and what remains of those sources as we move into the future recording, revising, and accumulating.
